Jin Shin Jyutsu
Register Now
October 18, 2009 / 9:00am - 5:00pm / 7 CE Hours / $140
Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) is an ancient Japanese healing art that balances
the body's energies and facilitates its own profound healing capacity.
This introductory class will teach you simple yet powerful self-help techniques
to balance your energy and release tension and stress. JSJ works with
safety energy locks along energy pathways that feed life into our cells.
When one or more of these pathways become blocked, the circulation of
life energy is comprised and health issues and/or pain occur. Holding
these safety energy locks in particular sequences can bring balance to
body, mind and spirit which enhances overall well-being and vitality and
often releases the causes of both acute and chronic conditions. Participants
will learn how to balance their energy to increase their vitality and
well-being and also will be able to help others using this art. Discussion
and questions are welcome. No experience is necessary.
Please bring: Paper & pen, comfortable
clothing.
Instructor: Nancy Conkling - For 15 years,
Nancy has had a practice in Acton (and now also Belmont) where she offers
private sessions for adults and children and teaches self-help classes.
She began studying Jin Shin Jyutsu in 1993 and it became her passion.
To supplement her understanding, she has taken many courses in related
modalities such as Reflexology, Breathwork, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
She has written an article that was published in the corporate JSJ international
newsletter about one of her remarkable experiences with a client.

Deep Tissue Refresher
Register Now
October 18, 2009 / 9:00am - 5:00pm / 7 hours / $140
Focused on the skillful application of soft tissue techniques that allow
deeper access to the fascia and muscular layers of the body. This approach
creates a greater sense of relief from chronic muscular tension. Muscular
tension patterns can reduce blood flow and restrict the removal of metabolic
wastes, resulting in pain and loss of function. The typical superficial
and passive massage techniques do not provide the desired relief; this
often causes frustration and more reflexive muscular tension. The practitioner
will learn treatment strategies designed to break these muscular holding
patterns that are direct, purposeful, and easy to apply. The practicing
therapist will learn how to use: cross-fiber friction, passive movement,
neurological inhibition, breath and positioning to enhance the overall
effectiveness of treatment.

Down to the Bone, Deep Tissue, Part 1
Register Now
October 25 & November 1, 2008 / 9:00am - 5:00pm / 14 CE Hours / $280
This is a hands-on training. You will be learning deep tissue techniques
on the neck, hips, and low back. By using broad-based and specific techniques,
we will glide and melt our way down to the "bone". This work
can be intense but should not be painful for the client or the therapist.
There will be a strong focus on alignment and effortless work. You will
be introduced to the concept that oil allows you to work deeply contrary
to the popular belief that less lubrication is needed for deep work. You
will learn how the use of speed without pressure can clear the area of
current tension, allowing you to uncover muscular adhesions and chronic
tension. It is this long-standing tension we will address with our work.
This workshop is appropriate for anyone wanting to deepen their work without
increasing their effort!
Prerequisites: Graduate from 500 hour massage
program.
